I’ll be honest—making the bed has never been high on my priority list. In fact, I used to intentionally avoid it. I mean… how am I supposed to take an afternoon nap if the bed is all made up and nice. 🤣
But lately, I’ve been doing it anyway. And it makes such a difference.
Even with kids reading on the floor and the laundry basket piled high with clothes, walking into a room with a made bed feels like a deep breath. It instantly makes the whole space feel more peaceful—like one little space of the house is together, even if everything else isn’t.At night, when I’m feeding Fitz, is when really notice it. I just feels less chaotic.
Here’s the thing: with little ones at home, we don’t always have time for long routines or Pinterest-perfect homes. But simple, doable habits—like taking two minutes to make the bed—can help us feel more grounded, more in control (one thing checked off the to do list!!), and honestly… a little more sane.
Here are a few cozy things that make our bedroom feel extra restful (even with baby monitors on the nightstand and burp cloths nearby). If you’re looking to add a touch of calm to your space too, here are a few of my favorites:
🛏️ Our new bedding that had soft calming color
🎼 Our favorite sound machine ( seriously, we have one in every bedroom)
💤 My favorite brand of pajamas
