Today’s little science lesson with Archie was such a hit!
We’re kicking off our weekly science time, and our first topic was paleontologists (a big word for little explorers 🦕). To make it hands-on (and get us outside for some fresh air 🙌), I set up a simple activity with kinetic sand and a few wooden animals for Dinosaur Dig Play.
I buried the animals under the sand so Archie could “dig” them up. At first, he just used his hands, but it turned into a perfect chance to talk about how paleontologists use both big and small tools. For us, the “small tools” were little digging tools, and the “big tools” were… construction trucks, of course 🚜😂. Before long, our dig site became a full-on construction zone!
Archie loved uncovering the animals, playing with the sand, and even turning it into a hide-and-seek game. Watching him connect the lesson to play made it so much more fun—and honestly, isn’t that the best way to learn?
Definitely a super easy and fun way to bring a science concept to life for kids!
